ABC tracing A–Z

Uppercase and lowercase for every letter, with a word and picture cue (A is for Apple). Download one letter or the full 26-page set.

Numbers 0–20 & counting

Trace the number, then count exactly that many stars and write the total. Zero gets its own sheet β€” with, correctly, no stars at all.

Name tracing

Type a name β€” Maja-Liisa works fine β€” and get trace-over lines plus a free-write line. Names are never stored.

A gentle way to start writing

Start with the letters of your child's name, not with A. A few minutes a day beats one long session: little hands tire before interest does. Sit the paper so the elbow can rest, use a short thick pencil, and praise the trying as much as the result. When a letter is easy traced, the blank line at the bottom of every sheet is where real writing begins.

These sheets are drawn by code, not by an image generator β€” so a B is always a B, the counting stars always match the number, and your child's name is spelled exactly as you typed it.

Questions from parents

Are these worksheets really free?

Yes β€” the ABC and number worksheets are always free, and name tracing is free for 1 child. Paid plans include more children: Starter 3, Family 6, and Unlimited unlimited. No signup is needed for the free sheets.

What age are tracing worksheets for?

Most children are ready between ages 3 and 6. Start with the letters in your child's own name β€” motivation matters more than alphabetical order β€” and keep sessions to a few minutes.

How do I print them?

Download the PDF in A4 or US Letter, print on normal paper, and use a thick pencil or crayon. For re-use, slip the sheet into a dry-erase pocket and use a whiteboard marker.

Is my child's name stored?

The name you type is only used to draw that one sheet and to label its PDF. It is never saved on our servers, shared, or used for anything else. To count how many different children's sheets a plan includes, your own browser keeps a scrambled (hashed) note of names used β€” the name itself is not stored.

Why trace light letters?

Tracing builds the hand strength and letter shapes children need before writing alone. Every sheet ends with a blank 'your turn' line so they try the letter or their name unaided. Printed sheets follow Zaner-Bloser manuscript: a big model shows a small arrow at the start of every stroke, then a dashed trace row, a faded row with little arrows to follow, and a blank ruled row. Lowercase a and g are drawn in their single-storey handwriting forms.
